Signed today in Verona, as part of the 'Vinitaly' event, the new Memorandum of Understanding for the “National Day of Wine and Oil Culture”. The undersecretaries of the Ministries involved were present for the signing – Rossano Sasso for the Ministry of Education, Lucia Borgonzoni for the Ministry of Culture, Gian Marco Centinaio for the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies – and the President of AIS Antonello Maietta.
The three Ministries and theAIS (Italian Sommelier Association) renew the previous three-year agreement and the common commitment to disseminate and raise awareness of the knowledge, economy and traditions associated with the wine and oil production of the Italian regions; also through museum, educational, historical-documentary itineraries.
The protocol promotes the involvement of students; provides for the processing of training courses dedicated to the direct knowledge of the culture and the socio-economic characteristics of the single territories, related to the oenological and oil-producing traditions; provides training initiatives on specific topics such as agri-food excellence and fight against counterfeiting, and orientation activities in lower secondary schools.
Alongside the AIS, the following participate in the implementation of the Protocol: for the MIC, the Directorate General for Education, Research and Cultural Institutes and the General Directorate of Museums; for the MI, the General Directorate for school regulations, evaluation and internationalization of the national education system; for the MIPAAF, the Directorate General for the Promotion of Agri-Food Quality and Horse Racing and the Department of the Central Inspectorate for the Protection of Quality and Fraud Repression of Agri-Food Products (ICQRF).
The National Day of Wine and Oil Culture this year will take place on Sunday 7th May.
