Art conversations on the theme of trade in the ancient Mediterranean

On 29 September, from 16.00 to 18.30, on Slash Radio Web the third appointment of the program will be broadcast 'Art Conversations', dedicated this year to the 'Mediterranean. Cultures, exchanges and shared imaginaries', to disseminate the typical features of the Mediterranean civilization, a heritage shared by many different cultural realities that overlook the inland sea.

Trading in the ancient Mediterranean: routes, trades and exchanges

The third stage of this journey is dedicated to maritime trade, a determining phenomenon in the formation of that culture of the sea which in the Mediterranean will follow a completely original development.

In the first contribution will be proposed the millennial tale of the relationship between Rome and marble. The Romans prepared an industrial, logistic and administrative system never seen in ancient history to enrich the architecture of the cities with splendid materials, giving rise to a flourishing Mediterranean trade.

Subsequently, we will address the issue ofart of sailing in the ancient world, also retracing the great epic poemsespecially Homer's Odyssey and Virgil's Aeneid.

From Archaeological Park of Ostia Antica, a path dedicated to the maritime history of Ostia and the trades of ancient Rome. From its ports passed the grain destined to supply the city, a key element of the well-being of the population and therefore of the stability of the state.

Finally, within the section dedicated to accessible activities currently underway on the national territory, the itineraries created and proposed by the Archaeological Park of Ostia Antica will be illustrated in collaboration with numerous institutions and some of the experiments linked to the creation of a tactile path in Ostiense Museum.

As usual, the Art Conversations will be enriched by theSlashArt pills'. The pill of this transmission will deal with theby Velasco Vitali, "Landing".

Music tracks inspired will accompany the public on this cultural journey now in its third appointment.
