Training day "Artistic diagnostics and scientific laboratories"

The training day on Artistic diagnostics and scientific laboratories is edited by Central Institute for Restoration in collaboration with the School of Cultural Heritage and Activities Foundation and the Directorate-General for Education, Research and Cultural Institutes. The day is part of the course on "ICR tools and methods" already started on 27 September.

Since its foundation in 1939, the Institute's activities in the field of restoration and conservation have been based on interdisciplinarity and systematic scientific research, aimed at understanding the phenomena of deterioration of artefacts, studying ancient materials and artistic techniques, to the evaluation of adequate materials and methods of intervention. During the day, the organization of the scientific laboratories of Chemistry, Material tests and of biological investigations, with the different areas of expertise and the main activities carried out within the institutional tasks of consultancy, research and teaching within the School of Higher Education, also with examples of case studies. Furthermore, the potential of using the multispectral investigation techniques of non-destructive testing (IR Reflectography; Multifrequency Reflectography; Transmitted IR; UVF; UVR; IRC; IRbn; LIR; RX; IRThermal), pertaining to the Multispectral Diagnostic Unit of the Physics and Environmental Controls Laboratory.

Target audience

The course is aimed at technical-scientific officials and assistants and technical operators of the Ministry of Culture who carry out activities related to the themes of the day.

Entries must be received from 27 October to 7 November 2021 exclusively on the Course Portal at the link: https://portalecorsi.beniculturali.it.

The contents of the training day will be hosted on the platform fad.fondazionescuolapatrimonio.it, in synchronous mode on 22 November, 2021 (according to the attached schedule) and in asynchronous mode, from 6 December 2021 to 31 March 2022.

Attendance of the entire training day (about 4 hours) entitles to 4 continuous learning point credits (CFC).
