Will be held in Bologna, from 26 to 29 October, the seventh edition of the National Illustrated Tactile Publishing Competition TOCCA A TE! . The project was born in 2011 to support and promote tactile publishing through the creation, production and dissemination of illustrated tactile books.
The event is organized by National Federation of Pro-Blind Institutions Onlus, by Robert Hollman Foundation and the Institute for the Blind Francesco Cavazza Onlus of Bologna in collaboration with the Directorate General for Education, Research and Cultural Institutes, the Centre for educational services (Sed), the Uici – Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired, the Consulta between Ancient Bolognese Institutions, the SVP Worldwide Italy and the Typhlo & Tactus International Group.
TOCCA A TE! will reward the most interesting books among those competing in the different categories and will select the 5 Italian participants in the 16th edition of the Typhlo & Tactus International Competition , scheduled for Lublin (Poland) in 2024.
The Directorate General for Education, Research and Cultural Institutes will participate in the work of the jury which will be held on Thursday 26th and Friday 27th October at the 'Francesco Cavazza' Institute for the Blind in Bologna. During the event, four special mentions will also be awarded, among these the 'Sed' mention for the best book aimed at facilitating accessibility to the cultural, museum and heritage territory.
The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday 28 October at the Salaborsa Library, with the announcement of the winners and the exhibition open to the public of all the participating works and of the Itinerant LibraryTD-BOX, experiences and narratives. The exhibition will continue until Sunday 29.
Cultural activities linked to the competition
Also at the Salaborsa Library, on 26 and 27 October, the workshops will take place We learn by playing with Lego Braille Bricks to discover the braille code and its "magical" method of reading and writing through play .
In the same venue, on 28 and 29 October, meetings and debates will allow us to delve deeper into the topic. During the round table Illustrated tactile books, pages for everyone: the state of the art, the book Touching words – Discovering illustrated tactile publishing will be presented , financed by the Directorate General for Education, Research and Cultural Institutes. The work is taken from the series of webinars of the same name, created in 2021 as part of the Reading is the same for everyone project. The latter is organized by the National Federation of Institutions for the Blind, the Province of Lecce and the Ministry of Culture.
