On Friday, December 6, 2024, the exhibition 1944-2024 opens. The Columbarium from destruction to rebirth at the Tuscan Academy of Sciences and Letters La Colombaria in Florence, open until 9 March 2025.
The initiative aims to recall and analyze what happened in August 1944, when the historic center of Florence was bombed, causing the destruction of numerous bridges and historic buildings, including the ancient headquarters of the academy that now houses the exhibition.
Through documents, period images and works of art, the history of the academy is retraced from its foundation to the present day, as a cultural reference point for the city and beyond.
The inaugural day includes a study seminar, carried out with the contribution of the General Directorate for Education, Research and Cultural Institutes.
