Digital MAB is a transdisciplinary training initiative aimed at museums, archives and libraries and all institutions, public or private, that integrate museum, archival or bibliographic collections. It is part of the Dicolab. Digital culture project, the training system for the digital transformation of cultural heritage promoted by the Ministry of Culture – digital library as part of the PNRR Culture 4.0, created by the National School of Cultural Heritage and Activities and funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU.
The Digital MAB program funds up to 10 action-research training projects that promote digital convergence between museum, archival and bibliographic collections, with a total allocation of 300,000 euros.
Digital MAB is aimed at accompanying and supporting the digital transformation process in MAB contexts (museums, archives and libraries). There are three areas of intervention: digitization and metadata of collections; representation of data for the use of digital cultural heritage; the study of digital audiences.
Candidate projects must be based on the model of action-research, a training approach based on the analysis and overcoming of criticalities with an experimental approach, in order to improve usual practices. The project proposals must in fact include the involvement of an interdisciplinary working group, in which the various experts will be trained in the dialogue between reflection and practice through the methodological accompaniment of a tutor. Projects must necessarily provide a concrete, measurable, documentable result/output.
Who can participate
Cultural institutes, museums, archives and libraries – based in Italy and with specific experience in digital convergence – can apply for funding, both individually and in association – if they propose to work by integrating at least two museum, archival or bibliographic collections.
How to participate
The application for admission to the contribution can be submitted by 12:00 pm on 1 April 2025 through the computerized procedure available on page https://candidature.fondazionescuolapatrimonio.it/digitalmab.
