The international study conference "Exporting works, shaping a style. The circulation of cultural heritage from Italy to foreign countries (18th centuries - present)" will be held on 23 and on 24 October 2023 in the Spadolini room of the Ministry of Culture, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Directorate General for Education, Research and Cultural Institutes and by the Central State Archives, by the Department of Science Communication from the University of Teramo, the Italian Antique Dealers Association and the “Luigi Spezzaferro” Foundation.
The aim of the conference is to stimulate an all-round reflection on the phenomenon of the export of art and cultural objects from Italy, which investigates, starting from the knowledge of the past - dating back to the eighteenth century - the contemporary age, with an eye on the future.
In addition to presenting the reasons for the conference on Monday 23 October, the Director General of Education, research and cultural institutes Andrea De Pasquale will be present on Tuesday 24 October (session III) with the speech dedicated to "Futurism in America. The story of the export of Marinetti's papers.”
Furthermore, at the conference will present the results of the project born in 2015 from the collaboration between the Central State Archives and the University of Teramo and supported by the Spezzaferro Foundation, entitled "Exporting works, shaping a style. Rome 1880-1904”, which led to the filing of over 38,000 export licenses.
The event will see the publication of the proceedings in a monographic issue of the magazine “Predella. Journal of Visual Studies” in the field of art history.
