Course description

The Directorate-General for Education, Research and Cultural Institutes is promoting the first of four training courses Cultural accessibility: principles and practices as part of the Training plan for accessibility and inclusion in Italian cultural institutions and places, curated by the Directorate-General for Museums and the National School of Heritage and Cultural Activities.

Please note that the accessibility of the course will be guaranteed by subtitles and translation into Italian Sign Language (LIS).

The training plan is funded under the PNRR Mission 1 Component 3 (M1C3) Measure 1 Cultural heritage for the next generation – Investment 1.2 Removal of physical and cognitive barriers in museums, libraries and archives to allow wider access and participation in culture – Action line 7 Training of cultural operators.

The program

The training course Cultural accessibility: principles and practices addresses the following topics:

  • Designing Accessibility: The Development of the Discipline Over Time
  • Bias and Cultural Heritage
  • The value of words
  • Visible and invisible barriers: understanding the context to define solutions
  • The right to culture and the legal framework of accessibility

Target audience

The training course is aimed at all MiC staff who carry out activities related to the topics addressed and external users interested in the proposed activities.

Enrolment 

Registrations for MiC staff are open from 8 to 26 May 2025 exclusively on the Course Portal. The authorization procedure for MiC staff by the Director will be possible until 28 May 2025.

Registrations for external users are managed directly by the National School of Cultural Heritage and Activities on its own platform.

Learning mode

The training course will be available on demand on the FAD platform of the National School of Heritage and Cultural Activities starting from 5 June 2025, according to the calendar reported in the circular.
