Description of the event
Until 6 September 2023 for the review “Caring for art. Restorations on display” will be exhibited in Florence at the Museum of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure – OPD “The Madonna and Child from the Cloister of the Basilica of San Lorenzo in Florence“
The initiative is promoted by the OPD to make the work of the Florentine Institute known to the general public, through the display at its museum of works subject to important conservation interventions.
The temporarily exhibited work is a faithful copy of the Panciatichi Madonna by Desiderio da Settignano, a stucco bas-relief from the 15th or 16th century by an anonymous artist, on which restoration work has been carried out that allows its calm luminosity to be captured.
