The Directorate General for Education, Research and Cultural Institutes participates in the final day of the second edition of the "Cultural Festival of the Rural Villages of Laga" which will be held Saturday 11 November 2023 at 3.00 pm in Teramo at the Council Room of the Science Park, with a contribution on the theme "Educating communities and new shared models of active citizenship".

The festival

The festival is a traveling exhibition promoted by the Municipalities of Cortino, Crognaleto, Teramo, Torricella Sicura, Rocca Santa Maria and Valle Castellana, in collaboration with Federtrek Escursionismo e Ambiente and the Rere Territoriale Monti della Laga. With over 37 events, the festival involved over sixty small rural villages from May to the beginning of November 2023, most of which fall within the enchanting natural scenery of the Gran Sasso-Monti della Laga National Park, with l The objective is to highlight the significant landscape-architectural value of the settlements and the way of life of these territories.

The State Archives of Teramo with its Educational Service participated in the Festival by providing useful documentation for preparing historical cards of some localities and for exploring themes to be shared with local communities during visits. such as traditional rituals, “witchcraft”, mass emigration and the return to the roots.

The closing day of the Festival is the final expression of a participatory model of active citizenship, based on collaborative forms between citizens and local administrations, with the shared objective of promoting and enhancing those common goods that constitute the heritage historical/cultural/identity of the territories injured following the earthquake swarm of 2016.
