The Directorate General for Education, Research, and Cultural Institutes performs the functions of coordination, guidance, and supervision over four institutes of the Ministry granted special autonomy:
Central Institute for Graphics (ICG)
Central Institute for Archives and Book Pathology (ICPAL)
Central Institute for Restoration (ICR)
Semi-precious stone factory (OPD)
At the ICR, OPD and ICPAL, Schools of higher education and study operate, issuing diplomas equivalent to a Master’s degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, with reference to their respective professional training paths.
The organisation and functioning of the Central Institutes and other institutes of the Ministry of Culture granted special autonomy is regulated by the ministerial decree dated 3 February 2022, n.46
