The School of Higher Education and Study (SAF) of the Central Institute for Archive and Book Pathology dedicates the month of October to four meetings on heritage, research and conservation : the event "Ottobrata alla SAF", scheduled every Thursday of the month, will be open to students and also to all those who want to deepen their knowledge of the activities of the Institute and the School.
The first meeting, scheduled for 5 October, arises from the collaboration with the musicologist Francesco Zimei: the seminar addresses the theme of 'fragmentology' as a new research perspective in the field of historical musicology.
The event on 12 October is dedicated to the Corpus Chartarum Italicarum, a unique collection in the world of ancient and modern papers produced in Italy: the collection, preserved in theInstitute ,illustrates Italian paper production and its use as a support for written memory from the 13th to the 20th century.
The third meeting, scheduled for 19 October, focuses on the study and diagnostics of archival and book assets. The speech by Flavia Pinzari, CNR researcher, focuses on the use of SEM, a scanning electron microscope present in the Institute. The seminar continues with the contribution of Paola Biocca, chemist at Ales S.p.A. at ICPAL, which illustrates the main technical analytical procedures that are implemented within the ICPAL chemistry laboratory when an artefact is subjected to analysis.
The series of meetings ends on 26 October with a speech by the restorers Serena Galetti and Claudia Garofalo, who illustrate the work carried out by ICPAL on two photo albums belonging to the Central Library of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
