Second mission to Italy for the ARQUEO-CUBA project: archeology and environmental sustainability

From 9 to 24 September 2023 the second mission will take place in Italy as part of the Arqueo - Cuba Project: archeology and environmental sustainability for territorial cooperation to combat climate change (AID012314/01/7), financed by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) "Territorial entities 2019" announcement.

The ARQUEO-CUBA project, launched in 2021, aims to increase knowledge and awareness of the natural and historical territory of the target areas in sites in Cuba and Italy. The final objectives include strengthening the educational, informative and expressive offers of the territory.

The second mission in Italy

The second mission includes two weeks of meetings, seminars, inspections and visits to institutes and places of culture in Lazio. The main theme is the management and territorial planning of projects for the valorisation and protection of cultural heritage, oriented towards environmental sustainability and shared with reference community.

For these reasons, during the two weeks, the following are scheduled:

  • meetings with bodies and institutions
  • sharing projects strongly linked to the territory, based on environmental sustainability and integration with citizens and local realities (among others: the plan of Circeo National Park, the MAB areas in the Circeo territory, the Appia Antica Park, the urban gardens and the energy communities of the Municipality of Rome, the Ecomuseo Casilino).

The training program is aimed at the Cuban delegation with a view to mutual exchange and enrichment and is coordinated by the General Directorate of Education, Research and Cultural Institutes.
