The first Italian edition of the Competition for young protagonists of European cultural heritage (2022- Young European Heritage Makers Competition) has ended last December.

The commission of the Ministry of Culture, set up by the Directorate General for Museums and the Directorate General for Education, Research and Cultural Institutes, examined the sixteen projects in competition and has selected the two Italian semi-finalists.

The two projects that have obtained the highest score are:

  • For category 6-11 – The Jocanda, presented by the mentor Isabella Ferri, teacher of the students of the fourth class B of the primary school of Magione (PG), authors of the story on the local cultural heritage
  • For the 11-17 category – Gaspare Spontini, citizen of Europe between music and philanthropy, presented by the mentor Claudia Casavecchia and created by the extracurricular group of "The students of Maiolati Spontini"

The commission evaluated the works of the young people and children considering the originality of the chosen subjects and their narration, the graphic rendering of the project, the European symbolic value and adherence to the theme of European Heritage Days: “Sustainable cultural heritage: a legacy for the future”.

On European Council will evaluate the semi-finalist works from European countries and, in March, the two winning projects will be decreed through a online ceremony and an exhibition staged at the Council headquarters in Strasbourg.

The appointment with the next edition will be in September, in conjunction with the 2023 edition of the European Heritage Days.
