The fourth webinar of the IT-FR bilateral cooperation for heritage science took place on April 27, 2023. Speakers had the opportunity to discuss the challenges about historical gardens during climate change. Around 90 people attended the meeting, in particular, experts from Italy and France sharing their knowledge and perspectives on the topic.

Historical gardens, representing natural and cultural heritage at same time, are directly affected by the environmental transformations taking place throughout the world. Climate change threatens their existence, which face new challenges from rising temperatures, increased rainfall and changing weather.

During the meeting, experts highlighted the consequences of environmental conditions changed on historical gardens and gardeners. They also suggested new techniques and instruments to resolve these problems. Finally, participants underlined the need to increase a network of collaboration between researchers, gardeners and policy makers, in order to develop effective strategies to adapt to the changes in recent years.
