We report the International Art Competition "Joy of Europe", now in its 27th edition, aimed at children and young people (aged 4 to 18) from all over the world. The competition is organized by the Municipality of Belgrade – Department of Culture and the Belgrade Children's Culture Center and is promoted by the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Rome.
The aim of the initiative is to promote free artistic expression, to encourage the value of artistic creation starting from childhood, to promote cultural diversity and the different pedagogical approaches related to it. Individuals, preschools, schools, children’s art studios, children’s cultural centers and similar children’s institutions and associations can participate in the call, creating art works on a free theme.
The works will be divided into five age categories and then evaluated by a jury of experts based on the artistic skills expressed and the degree of visual literacy of the author (always based on the reference age). Some of these works will receive prizes and honorable mentions and will finally be exhibited in the Gallery of the Children's Cultural Centre in Belgrade, whose guests will be involved in an urban art colony.
The finalist works will be printed on the "Joy of Europe" stamps issued by the public company Pošta Srbije every year by the end of September, with the cooperation of the competition publisher.
