Description and objectives of the course

The "Management, sharing and use of data: from SIGECweb to Linked Open Data" course is organized by the Directorate General for Education and Research in collaboration with the Central Institute for Cataloging and Documentation.

It will take place from 7 November 2017 to 10 November 2017, from 9.00 to 16.30, at the ICCD headquarters, in Via di San Michele 18.

The aim of the course is to provide in-depth knowledge on the use of the main data management functions in SIGECweb for publication on the consultation platform dedicated to the Catalog of Cultural Heritage and for interoperability with other systems that manage information on cultural heritage.

The potential of sharing information for the fruition, valorisation and reuse of cataloging data in the new context of the semantic websemantic web.

The topics of open data, ontologies for the description of cultural heritage and the main technologies related to will then be introduced linked open datalinked open data.

The initiative is part of the training proposal of the ICCD for 2017, divided into various training courses and addressed to MiBACT staff, in possession of skills and roles of responsibility with respect to the topics covered. Course participants are also required to have basic knowledge of cataloging standards and the SIGECweb system.

In accordance with the contents, purposes and methods of the course, 24 places are available reserved for II and III area MiBACT personnel (max. 1 candidate per Institute), who carry out service at the Catalog Offices of the Archeology, Fine Arts and Landscape Superintendencies and state museums and is directly involved in the activities covered by the training.

Membership

Applications for admission to the course must be sent from 19 to 24 October exclusively to the dedicated e-mail address -dg-er.formazione@beniculturali.it – and must be accompanied by the specific documentation as indicated in Circular 39/2017 of the Directorate General for Education and Research, attached.

Communications relating to the admissions of students and subsequent confirmations will be published on the official websites of the Directorate General for Education and Research and of the ICCD - http://dger.beniculturali.it and http://www.iccd.beniculturali.it – according to the methods and times defined.

The certificate of attendance to the course will be issued on condition that, with respect to the total number of hours, the 20% of delays and/or absences by each participant is not exceeded.
