Art Conversations: Mediterranean. Cultures, exchanges and shared imaginaries

On 23rd June, from 16.00 to 18.30, on Slash Radio Web program appointments resume 'Art Conversations'. A new cycle entitled 'Mediterranean. Cultures, exchanges and shared imaginaries' to spread the typical traits of Mediterranean civilization, a heritage shared by all the different cultural realities bordering the sea.

Living in the Mediterranean: cities and lifestyles – first episode

The first episode of the new cycle is dedicated to Mediterranean city, characterized by a common lifestyle determined by the climate, by the geomorphology of its places and by historical events which over the centuries have led different cultures to move, collide, meet and merge.

Reading a passage fromThe Mediterranean by boat' by Georges Simenon will open the episode. An intervention on the so-called will follow medieval nautical revolution, essential to the understanding of the historical context of reference, and a contribution aimed at illustrating the characteristics of urban landscape, the forms of living and ways of using space.

The second reading, taken from Mediterranean Breviary by Predrag Matvejević, will offer a suggestive evocation of seaports, a distinctive and enlivening figure of living in the Mediterranean.

The art conversations will enrich theSlashArt pills', on this occasion dedicated to the work of Giovanni Gaggia entitled 'What Had to Happen: that is, art as civil memory'.

Finally, within the customary address book for accessible activities currently ongoing on the national territory will be presented i Tactile-olfactory itineraries in the English Garden of the Royal Palace of Caserta.

The choice of musical pieces for this episode she fell back on authors and songwriters inspired by the Mediterranean.

In the first episode, conducted by Luisa Bartolucci of the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired, will take part:

Amedeo Feniello, professor of medieval history at the Department of Human Sciences of the University of L'Aquila; Luca Maricchiolo, architect and researcher at the University of Paris-Est Créteil; Alessia Varricchio and Annalisa Trasatti of the Omero State Tactile Museum in Ancona; Vincenzo Mazzarella, art historian responsible for the Education and Mediation Enhancement Service at the Royal Palace of Caserta; Elisabetta Borgia of the Directorate General for Education, Research and Cultural Institutes, Service I Research Office - MiC.
