For the first time Italy is assigning a major investment to the regeneration of historic parks and gardens – poles of 'public beauty' and places of identity for communities – and to training programmes dedicated to the professionals involved, thanks to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

From this line of investment comes out "Oltre il Giardino", the free program of training and professional updating for the care and management of historic parks and gardens.

The course is an initiative of the Ministry of Culture, promoted by VIII Service of the General Secretariat in collaboration with the General Directorate for Education, Research and Cultural Institutes, curated and implemented by the Foundation School of Cultural Heritage and Activities with the support of APGI Associazione Parchi e Giardini d'Italia and it is a project funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU as part of the PNRR Culture 4.0.

Our historic parks and gardens are among the most beautiful in the world and, like Italian museums and archaeological sites, they represent the points of our identity geography. We must take care of it and relaunch its cultural role thanks to the training of new specific professionals. Europe tells us that we are first in terms of spending capacity of PNRR funds for culture, we have achieved all the targets and we must be proud of the results achieved. From these resources will come the tools to enhance our cultural heritage and for the professional growth of our staff” Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano.
