Also this year the Ministry of Culture adheres to International day of the rights of persons with disabilities of the 3rd December, established in 1992 by the UN. It promotes its values and identifies the overcoming of physical, cognitive, sensory and cultural barriers in places of culture as a primary commitment, with the usual slogan "One day a year all year round”,
the purpose of the day is to raise awareness on the theme of the universal right to take an active part in every sphere of social life; to stimulate debate and comparison on the need to create a fair and dialoguing society; to contribute to overcoming all forms of racism and exclusion.
The Day is part of a broader context of restarting, combating discrimination of all kinds and increasing growth prospects and social cohesion, which is part of the sustainable development goals set by the United Nations 2030 Agenda and, in particular , in those related to the quality of education, the reduction of inequalities and the strengthening of dialogue between peoples.
The MiC reiterates its willingness to increasingly guarantee the right of all to cultural participation; L'access to places of culture; L'access to cultural heritage content.
The Directorate General for Education, Research and Cultural Institutes and the General Directorate of Museums invite the Institutes of the MiC to:
- work to improve accessibility to sites and collections;
- organize, in December, face-to-face and online activities aimed at promoting the widest possible participation in cultural heritage;
- on the initiative of those responsible for the accessibility of museums, monuments, archaeological areas and parks and those responsible for educational services, adopt every precaution to give rise to initiatives that are also accessible through digital tools, for which reference is also made to Guidelines on the accessibility of IT tools issued by AgID.
Each Institute is required to include the initiatives in the Major Event of reference: "3/12/2021 International Day for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities".
