With the usual slogan One day a year all year round, this year too, the the Ministry of Culture adheres to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December and promotes its underlying values, committing itself to ensuring the better conditions of access to cultural heritage.

Proclaimed in 1992 by the UN, the day focuses on debate and public discussion on the theme of the universal right to the full and effective participation of each individual in the political, social, economic and cultural sphere of society and on the need to contribute to the elimination of all obstacles that limit respect for the essential rights of the person.

These objectives are also supported by the PNRR line of intervention, dedicated to the removal of physical, sensorial and cognitive barriers in public and private cultural institutes, thanks to which over 1000 interventions are being implemented aimed at making these places truly welcoming and inclusive. .

DG-ERIC and DG Museums invite all MiC educational institutions and services to join the day, presenting activities that enhance physical, sensorial, cultural and cognitive accessibility to the collections and heritage places and to organise, throughout the month of December, in-person and online initiatives, to be communicated by Thursday 30 November, according to the methods indicated in DGERIC-DGMU circular n.62/2023.

The continuously updated initiatives can be consulted on the MiC website at the page: https://cultura.gov.it/evento/3dicembre2023
