Course description
As part of the digital skills training and updating project Dicolab. Digital Culture, the General Directorate for Education, Research and Cultural Institutes promotes the training course Digital libraries 2 Services for citizens as part of cycle Libraries and digital transformation, edited by the National School of Cultural Heritage and Activities in collaboration with the Italian Library Association(AIB).
The training initiative is part of the actions defined by the Ministry of Culture as part of the PNRR.
The program and main themes
The training course aims to explore the digital services of libraries and the role they play for the reference community. Among the topics covered in depth: the opportunities of artificial intelligence, the value of the web and social media archiving for the preservation of digital heritage, the technologies and practices that support open access to open science, the evolution of the catalog and discovery tools in the contemporary world.
The training activity is divided into 9 webinars, with related insights, available live and on demand on the FAD platform of the School of Cultural Heritage and Activities Foundation, according to the calendar shown in the attached program:
- Libraries and AI. Introduction and Applications
- Introduction to web and social media archiving
- Identify and evaluate digital public source documentation
- Digital libraries and open science
- Information e media literacy. Educare alla competenza informativa in biblioteca
- Communication in the library: tools, strategies, visions
- Communicating the library through its website
- The digital reference service
- The evolution of the catalog and discovery tools
Target audience
The training course is aimed at MiC staff, in particular managers and staff of libraries or those who carry out activities related to the issues addressed. The training activity is also aimed at library professionals involved in digital cultural planning processes.
Enrolment
Registration for the MiC staff and for all other users is open from 1st to 30 April 2025 exclusively on Course Portal. The authorization procedure by the Manager will be possible until 2 May 2025.
Learning mode
The training course will be available live (according to the attached program) and on demand on the FAD platform of the National School of Heritage and Cultural Activities from 9 May to 30 September 2025.
