Dicolab. Digital culture – the new National Catalogue System: tools and methods

Course description

As part of the digital skills training and updating project Dicolab. Digital Culture, the General Directorate for Education, Research and Cultural Institutes promotes the training course The new National Catalogue System: tools and methods, edited by the National School of Cultural Heritage and Activities in collaboration with the Central Institute for Cataloging and Documentation (ICCD) of the Ministry of Culture.

The training initiative is part of the actions defined by the Ministry of Culture as part of the PNRR.

The program

The training course is divided into two courses (with a single enrolment) and is focused on the transition from the SIGECweb platform to the new National Catalogue System (SCN), providing practical and applicative information, together with a broader framework on the topics of the semantic web and ontology management, at the basis of its operation:

  • From the catalogue card to the cataloguing data: the importance of relationships
  • Semantic description, management, and annotation: tools for digital assets

Target audience

The training course is aimed at MiC staff, in particular managers and staff who carry out activities related to the issues addressed.

The training activity also includes the participation of experts in the field who work in the cataloguing of cultural heritage, as well as young professionals and university students.

Enrolment 

Registration for the MiC staff is open from 7 to 28 February 2025 exclusively on Course Portal. The authorization procedure by the Manager will be possible until March 4, 2025.

For all other users, enrolments are managed directly by the National School of Cultural Heritage and Activities.

Learning mode

The training course will be available on demand on the FAD platform of the National School of Heritage and Cultural Activities from 12 March to 30 June 2025.
