
The Directorate-General for Education, Research and Cultural Institutes promotes four training courses with specific themes and recipients within the Training plan for accessibility and inclusion in Italian cultural institutions and places, curated by the Directorate-General for Museums and the National School of Heritage and Cultural Activities.
The accessibility of each training activity will be guaranteed by subtitles and translation into Italian Sign Language (LIS).
The training plan is funded under the PNRR Mission 1 Component 3 (M1C3) Measure 1 Cultural heritage for the next generation – Investment 1.2 Removal of physical and cognitive barriers in museums, libraries and archives to allow wider access and participation in culture – Action line 7 Training of cultural operators.
The training plan program
The plan is divided into four training courses for which separate registrations are foreseen on the Course Portal and which will be available from June 2025 on the e-learning platform of the National School of Heritage and Cultural Activities:
- Cultural Accessibility: Principles and Practices
- Design accessible
- Welcome, drive, tell
- Mediate, relate, communicate

The first path – Cultural accessibility: principles and practices
Starting from May 8, 2025 it is possible to enroll in the first training course, aimed at all MiC staff and external users, which addresses the following topics:
- Designing Accessibility: The Development of the Discipline Over Time
- Bias and Cultural Heritage
- The value of words
- Visible and invisible barriers: understanding the context to define solutions
- The right to culture and the legal framework of accessibility
